H1N1 and our Super Duper Flu/Cold Buster Juice

H1N1 seems to be all anyone can talk about these days, understandably why.

For obvious reasons we are going to avoid the ENTIRE topic of flu vaccines.  I am sure there are one or two people out there just looking for a place to drudge up a heated debate... guess what, not going to happen on my watch.  I am sure you can probably imagine my stance on the issue, and all I will ever say to anyone is do your own research, do what is best for your family.  There should be no judgement whether you do it or don't. I have seen so many people judged on either side of this issue, friendships broken, and families divided because a parent exercised their right to choose.

What I will discuss is the fact there are things you can do to protect yourself and your families from the flu virus.  And... I will be posting links to a few different things over the next few days... ;-)

A few things you can do is
  • Eat as fresh as possible, reduce or eliminate your processed foods.
  • Reduce your red meat intake
  • Eliminate sugar completely from your diet, allow yourself fruit and vegetables but eliminate all refined and natural sugars - even if they say organic - Sugar weakens your immune system and creates a lot of work for your body
  • Eat foods rich in Vitamin A,C, and E, zinc, and probiotics.
  • Introduce Echinacea tea or tincture into your home for regular use
  • Adequate rest and exercise are paramount to a healthy immune system.
You could also introduce our

Super Duper Flu/Cold Buster

1 Golden Beet
4 Apples
1 Pear
8 Carrots
2 Celery
Ginger

I will be posting a bunch of links for different types of remedies, tinctures and supplements to avoid and treat low immunity.

There is a lot that goes on inside each of our bodies.  I could rattle off a list of supplements, vitamins, foods, tinctures, teas etc that you could take to protect yourself and your family but each of us is different and what works for one of us probably won't work the same for another.  Each person's immune system is like a recycle bin. Some of us hold a lot of garbage, some barely hold any and everything in between. Needless to say there really are no quick fixes, there are natural bandaids (those I will be linking on the facebook page) but the best preventative measure you can take is to clean your life, clean your body, and clean your little ones in the process.  The changes you make for yourself have a huge impact on your children and their health if you make them as a family.

We will take a look at many different ways to improve immunity naturally over the life of this blog, one thing at a time.

For now I will tell you that we do the old onion in the room trick in our house... Take an onion, leave the skins on and chop off the top and bottom, place in a bowl next to the persons head in their room. Please make sure you don't cut it up and cook it after as it will be full of toxins.  I am pretty sure none of you would but just in case ;-).

We increase our antioxidant vitamins, we increase our fresh greens, our healthy oils, eliminate our sugar intake, and will now be introducing family exercise time.  We also do epsom salt baths, thieve's oil in the furnace filter and on our feet before bed. We are also going to bed earlier as well.  I have had my family drinking warm water through the day with fresh sliced ginger and lemons all day and our only sweetness other than fruit and higher glycemic vegetables is our neighbours fresh raw honey.

Stay health, happy, and rested everyone.
